Hot and Energetic Universe
For Grade 7 and up
Imagine trying to understand a large novel while being limited to only a few pages. Astronomers have been limited in their ability to "read" the electromagnetic spectrum since most of it is invisible to the human eye. Today, we are beginning to understand more about stars and galaxies by using observatories in space that are able to detect and allow us to image energies in the ultraviolet, x-ray, and gamma ray wavelengths. These extremely short and energetic wavelengths are helping us better understand some of the most violent and bizarre events and processes in the universe. From black holes, pulsars, and quasars to the Big Bang, come learn about the objects that live in our Hot and Energetic Universe.
